U14b Blue Have Great Successes at the West Pines Kickoff Classic
October 24-25, 2009
The U14b Blue, coached by Mauricio Pesaresi, had a successful weekend at that 13th Annual West Pines Kickoff Classic, October 24-25, 2009. In pool play they achieved a win against saa Real Madrid (2-0) and Weston (3-0) and a tie with Florida Rush Nike (2-2) – all great teams. Then their wishes were granted – they were to play West Pines in the finals match. The Fusion FC U14b Blue (last season’s U13) succumbed to West Pines (0-3) in the State Cup finals last May. The majority of West Pines roster are on Region III ODP team(s) and one is on the U15 National team and is one of the top teams in Region III. Coach Pesaresi and his team wanted another opportunity to play this great competitor.
It was a hard fought battle right up until the very end. Although the final score in the last minutes of the game ended as a loss of 2-3, the Fusion U14b Blue team were very proud of their accomplishment. Despite the challenges the team was faced this weekend with (two players playing with pulled muscles, one with the flu, one badly bruised, etc.), Coach Mauricio said, “Our team played with intelligence and courage and made all of us very proud.” Congratulation to all!!

This is the 2nd Annual friendly event between Fusion Futbol Club and Florida Rush. The games are meant to provide our teams, players & coaches with friendly competition and preparation for the upcoming CDL season. Last year was held at the Fusion 30th Street fields. This year our U12B Blue, U12G Blue, U15b Blue, U16B Blue, U17b Blue and U18b Blue teams traveled to Apopka. PUMA Speed, Agility and Quickness Training with Roland Moldovan
Coach Roland Moldovan, Coordinator of the PUMA SAQT Program for Fusion FC, has researched and designed this impressive program and will bring the program to all Fusion FC players during the 2009-2010 season. Roland reminds us that you cannot be a good soccer player if you are not a good athlete. This program is designed to be age specific to develop the athletic needs of 3 different age groups (U9-U12, U13-U14 & U15-U18) and, as important as age specificity, the speed, agility, quickness, balance & coordination drills are all soccer specific. Some of the focuses are: proper running technique, reaction speed, speed of execution, space awareness, sideways movements, quick changes of direction, quickness with and without the ball, acceleration and deceleration with and without the ball, turning quickly without losing body control, and more. Every professional club around the world have specialized programs like this. You will be very impressed with this program.

Bryheem Hancock, Fusion Goalkeeper Coach, Thoughts on Training
”Goalkeeper training is a need not a want for any Fusion FC goalkeeper - whether it’s to improve his or her technical, tactical, physical or psychological abilities,” says Bryheem Hancock, Fusion FC Goalkeeper Coach. “Goalkeeper training is an essential part of becoming more confident, refined, assertive and knowledgeable at the position. By participating in the goalkeeper training sessions this will help build on those attributes and improve your weaknesses. It’s not good enough to just practice with your team. You owe it to yourself, your team and your coach to join the rest of the Fusion FC goalkeepers to get ready for your season.”
