Congratulations to the U16b Blue team coached by Boys DOC, Mauricio Pesaresi, for being the Champions of the IMG Cup this past weekend! 

On Friday, the U16b Blue team were rostered challenged due to the conflicts with the high school commitments.  They lost their first group play game (1-3) to Parkland Predators.  On Saturday, however, they bounced back and played two very tough games defeating Weston FC (3-2) and PrepaTecAcademy (Monterrey, Mexico) (1-0) in a very intense and physical game.  With these tremendous results they won their group and the right to play the championship game on Sunday against DMSAcademy from California.  In that finals game, they scored an early goal and dominated the first half, but a minute into the second half they allowed a goal that tied the game. They responded quickly with a second goal giving them the lead, but with less than 5 minutes to play the referee awarded their opponent a penalty kick to tie the game 2-2.  We hear they dominated in overtime play but were unable to score sending the game into penalty kicks.  They ended up winning (3-1) scoring 3 out of 4 PKs and Logan Jones, Fusion goalkeeper, stopped two of their opponents PKs - forcing one over the crossbar.  Shaddy Douidar was selected MVP and was awarded a brand new pair of Under Armor shoes (IMG tournament sponsor). Coach Mauricio said, “It was a neat thing that Shaddy’s teammates selected him for this award.  Shaddy has experienced a challenging season this year.”  He obviously had a great tournament weekend.
