FUSION FC TRYOUTS, COACHES & CLUB DUES

Richard Chisolm returns to Tampa and is named the Head Coach for the Fusion FC U15g Blue, new Fusion FC Assistant Girls Director of Coaching and Goalkeeper Director.

Richard comes to Fusion FC with the highest level of qualifications as a US Soccer A License Coach, USYS National Youth License and US Soccer Goalkeeper License along with an abundance of experience in youth soccer, high school and the college game.

As a FYSA State ODP Staff Coach and recently appointed to the USYS Region III ODP Staff Coach he will bring a high level of insightful contributions with his abilities as a great teacher, coach of the game and mentor to all players and members of Fusion FC!

Jim DiNobile, Fusion FC Director of Operations said "I couldn’t be more pleased to add Richard to our coaching staff as a full time coach.  He will immediately have a most positive impact on our players and coaches with his excellent and varied experience in soccer which will immediately and greatly enhance our Club on all levels!"

Coach Chisolm will be at the Y League practices next week at Fusion 30th Street Fields on Tuesday and Thursday, May 24 & 26 and at tryouts the next week starting May 31.

FUSION FC TRYOUTS, COACHES & CLUB DUES

** Due to poor weather, Spring League is cancelled for tonight, 4/5. **

Starting in April the Fusion FC Spring League is back for all players ages U5 through U16, boys & girls. This mini-season is intended to provide players an opportunity to continue to play soccer in a fun, less structured format.  Teams will be co-ed, recreational and competitive players together, and grouped by age.  

When:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4/5/11 through 5/12/11 (excluding Spring Break week of 4/25) - no practices and no weekend games.

Where:  New Tampa Community Park Fields

Cost:  The fee includes a Spring League t-shirt.

$60 for Fusion players

$80 for non-Fusion players *

It was the largest attended banquet ever - 370.

At the end of the banquet we showed the following You Tube video about a Southern Thailand water village and their struggle for field space.  Although most people could get the gist of the story by just watching the video, the sub text at the bottom of the screen provides much more depth & personality to the story.  Enjoy!

Exciting News!!  

Ricky Hill, newly named Head Coach FC Tampa Bay, will be the Guest Speaker for the Fusion Banquet.

Ricky Hill, who hails from England, began his soccer career at the age of 17 playing for Luton Town Football Club in 1976, scoring in his professional debut against Bristol Rovers. He played for Luton until 1989, making 436 League appearances and scoring 54 goals. Hill was part of the squads who won the 1981 Second Division Championship and the 1988 Littlewoods Cup.
Hill represented England several times on the national youth teams and the U-21 team, as well as earning three caps with the Senior National Team between 1982 and 1986, including the 1982 European Championship Qualifiers.

From 1989 to 1991, Hill played for Le Havre FC in France and Leicester City FC in England before signing with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 1991 as a player and coach. Hill played for the Rowdies for two seasons in the American Soccer League, which during this time the team was runners-up in the American Professional Cup and the ASL Championship. In 1992, Hill was named Coach of the Year and a member of the ASL All-Star Team.

After his time with the Rowdies, Hill continued his career in Florida as the director of coaching for the Cocoa Expos winning the Southern division of the USISL Premier League and then accepting a position as assistant coach for the Florida Institute of Technology.

From there, Hill was head coach of the U-19 and U-17 teams for Seffield Wednesday and Tottenham Hotspus respectively, managing several current English Premier League players. Several players who were under his instruction are now playing at the senior level and include: Steven Haslam, Owen Morrison, Tony Crane, Matthew Hamshaw, Allan Quinn, Peter Holmes and Dean Brennan.

Most recently, Hill was appointed technical director of CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh in the Trinidad & Tobago Professional Football League. While under Hill, Jabloteh won the regular season Professional Football League, the First Citizen Cup and the Caribbean Club Championship. Jabloteh represented the Caribbean in the CONCACAF Tournament in 2003, where Hill was awarded Coach of the Year for Trinidad & Tobago.

The ODP experience is a journey and each step along the way is a wonderful experience for the participating player.  Players first attend trials in each of the Regions of Florida (A-D).  Players are chosen in each of those regions to attend the state wide trials.  Participating in any of these stages is a wonderful experience for our young players.

For the ’97 & ’98 born players, the following were selected to attend the FYSA State ODP Trials.  will go on to compete at the FYSA Supercenter for the State Teams on 1/8-9/11. 

. . . that Jim DiNobile, Fusion Director of Soccer Operations, was invited to join the coaching staff for the 1995 Region III ODP boys Unites States Youth Soccer (USYS) Olympic Development Program (ODP) team from February 5-12, 2011 and traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica.  While in Costa Rica, the '95 Region III team participated in the 2011 International Festival and played the youth teams of the professional Clubs of Saprissa, Alajuela, Heredia, and Brujas.  Region III players are made up of the 12  USYS state associations in the south region from Florida to North Carolina to Texas.

The FUSION FUTURES program is for boys and girls ages 6-10 who are looking to improve and receive top level training from our experienced and US Soccer Nationally Licensed coaches.

The objective of the program is to develop each player’s technical ability and knowledge of the game, through an environment of fun soccer activities and games. Our goal is to develop each player’s knowledge and ability within the game and more importantly increase their passion and excitement for the game. 

When:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2/15/11 through 3/17/11.

Times:

Age 6, 7, and 8:  6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Age 9 and 10:     7:15 pm - 8:30 pm

The U15 Boys Blue team traveled to Bradenton to participate in the IMG Cup the weekend of 12/10/10. Many teams, as well as college scouts, were there from around the United States, and even from other countries. The boy’s first game was Friday afternoon against Brooklyn Italians, NY. Fusion beat them 8-0. Saturday, they played the Florida Rush and IMG U14. They beat Florida Rush 3-1 in a very exciting game and IMG was defeated 5-1. Their wins put them in the Championship game on Sunday where they played the Indian National Team. This team of young men was chosen from their country of India to spend a year training at IMGAcademy. It was a hard fought game, and the Indian team came out with a 3-2 overtime victory. Per Coach Greco, “The Fusion boys played with heart, courage and intensity.”
